Coaching is a non-traditional career field that has many paths to success. The Coaching Assist is here to connect individuals within the basketball world as well as help aspiring and current coaches successfully navigate their own coaching paths. Our hope is that our readers will learn from their coaching peers through our interviews and as a result, enhance and evolve their own coaching philosophies. We share insight and advice right from the mouth’s of coaches and administrators in the basketball world. We provide tips and guidance for navigating a variety of paths, whether it be the first steps into coaching or a new path to connecting with peers.
How It Started
We launched The Coaching Assist while we were both graduate assistants at Mercer University, hungry to connect with coaches and learn as much as possible about the realm of coaching. Fortunately, we both had the privilege of participating in the WBCA’s “So You Want To Be A Coach” program (Class of 2014 & 2015), which ultimately led to our first positions on the sideline. At “So” we were able to learn from esteemed coaches and administrators while networking with other ambitious women eager to enter the coaching world.
Searching for ways to continue to grow and prepare, we sought out coaches to interview and pick their brains at what they’re best at. Through this blog, we will publish highlights from these interviews and hope to provide a resource that can share a variety of perspectives and new ideas to our readers.
